31st - Inner Harbour (2)

Another view of the inner harbour following on from yesterdays post.

30th - Inner Harbour

Looking across the inner Harbour towards 'Living Coasts', a sealife attraction with penguins etc. The netting on top is to keep out our scavaging friends, the seagulls.

29th - Seafront

Not too pretty a sight today on Torquay seafront, where has our summer gone?

Monday, 28 May 2007

28th - Bay View

Looking across the bay towards Paignton.

Sunday, 27 May 2007

27th - Torquay

Another view of Torquay taken from atop one of the hills overlooking town. The main trading street can be seen, which runs down to the harbourside. Across the bay you can just about make out Brixham, the main fishing port in the South West of England.

26th - Rock Walk

Rock Walk is a series of pathways that work their way up the cliff face overlooking the main beach. Must have a hike up this week with my camera.

Friday, 25 May 2007

25th - Palk Street

A view down Palk Street on Torquay harbourside. The church you can see has a cross on the tower that is illuminated at night, however it is no longer open to visitors.

24th - Street View

A view up an almost deserted side street in Torquay.

Wednesday, 23 May 2007

23rd - Low Tide

Torre Abbey sands beach at low tide yesterday. The Princess theatre can be seen on the promenade.

Tuesday, 22 May 2007

22nd - Torre Conservative Club

I really like this building as it differs so much from the usual style of a working mans club. I'm not sure what style of architecture this would be classed as, but the arched windows & doorway really feature strongly.

Monday, 21 May 2007

21st - Tree Stump

A tree stump found in Torre Abbey gardens.

Sunday, 20 May 2007

20th - Pond

A view of the duck pond in Torre Abbey gardens, opposite Torquay seafront.

Saturday, 19 May 2007

19th - Sea Views

Following on from yesterdays photo, this is the rest of the beach. The buildings above have fantastic views over the bay, they used to be hotels but most have now been turned into apartments. To the left is Mojo's bar, which is a great place to relax and enjoy a drink or three in the summer sun.

Friday, 18 May 2007

18th - Torre Abbey Sands

Torre Abbey sands beach, freshly raked at low tide. Taken yesterday in the sweltering sun, is summer finally here?

Thursday, 17 May 2007

17th - Torquay Marina

A view over Torquay marina but are these boats real? They never
seem to get used, which seems a waste, and mooring fees are not cheap
either.

Wednesday, 16 May 2007

16th - Banx Cafe Bar

As the name suggests, this building on Fleet Walk in Torquay was a former bank. Well worth a visit if you like to pay through the nose for a coffee or beer.

Tuesday, 15 May 2007

15th - Jet Skis

Three Jet skis or "sea doo's" berthed in Torquay harbour, I'd like to claim one of them is mine, maybe one day....

Monday, 14 May 2007

14th - Brixham Harbour

Brixham, which along with Torquay & Paignton make up the 'English Riviera', is the largest working port in the South West of England. A regular ferry service connects the three resorts around the bay.

13th - Fear

Street entertainer on Torquay harbourside. The young girl just could not pluck up the courage to put some money in his hat, she was stood perfectly still for ten minutes. Maybe she has a future as a human statue herself.

Saturday, 12 May 2007

12th - Torre Abbey

View of Torre Abbey, a Grade I listed building situated on Torquay seafront. This former monastery is now a museum and is currently going through a major redevelopment. Supposedly haunted, it is also home to Agatha Christie's typewriter!

11th - Struggling with bike

I took this photo last week, it was a fine morning and I noticed this girl struggling with her cycle. Now children & cycles are a rare sight down here due to the many steep hills. The hill here is very steep and many a car finds it a struggle. For anyone who knows the area I believe it is Hoxton Road.

10th - Torquay view

First picture of Torquay, looking down towards the harbourside. The main shopping street (Fleet Walk) runs down between the two hills that are lined with colourful houses. Don't forget - feel free to leave a comment! Another photo tomorrow
